A bit more info:

The hotel is in a very quiet location with lovely grounds (3 acres) and safe parking.

The bedrooms are individual and comfortable. Three have four poster beds. Most are large and over half have king size beds with Jacuzzi baths and a separate shower enclosure in the en-suite.

The food is excellent (it’s a 2 rosette restaurant) and the staff friendly and helpful. It is a family run hotel, with great reviews on Trip Advisor, which was used by the cast of Downton Abbey when filming at the nearby Highclere Castle, where the series was set.

The scones each day are served warm with a good helping of jam and clotted cream and are some of the best I've ever eaten!
The 7 course tasting menu is shown at £55 a head on the hotel website but included in the £318 weekend fee.

The optional daytime activities on the Saturday and Sunday are yet to be confirmed but the choice for the Saturday is between a trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Stonehenge, or possibly something else, and on Sunday morning it's hopefully a fun visit to Exciting Escapes at Basingstoke. The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is on that weekend, at Thruxton Motorsport Centre, which some people may like to attend. As was the case last time, the nearby Highclere Castle (where Downton Abbey was filmed) is only open to the public for a special event – this time it’s their 'Script to Screen’ tour, talk and tea, at £85 a head. Their opening days are generally very restricted and group tours have to be booked almost a year in advance.

Many thanks and warm regards,
